Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers frequently rave about the freshness of the fish, praising the perfectly cooked, golden batter that envelops each piece. Many highlight the generous portion sizes for the price, with most dishes available under £10, offering fantastic value. The homemade chips stand out, recognized for their delicious taste and ideal crispiness—something many local residents value. The variety on the menu also receives high marks, with options including homemade burgers and doner kebabs that appeal to a broader audience. The friendly and attentive service keeps diners coming back, making everyone feel like part of a tight-knit community.

Repeat customers appreciate the familiarity of the environment, often returning to see the same smiling faces and enjoy the same delightful dishes.

Most Disliked

Though Bassletons Fish Bar garners many positive reviews, a few customers mention the limited variety of sides available compared to larger chains. Some diners wish for additional options beyond the classic offerings of chips and mushy peas. A handful of guests express that during peak times, service can slow down, especially as the kitchen prepares each order fresh to ensure quality. Despite being wheelchair-accessible, a few visitors noted that the space can feel cramped during busy hours, potentially affecting the dining experience for larger groups. Overall, these issues seem minor compared to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from most patrons.

Sorry you guys looking for below 5 star this certainly is 5 star just great fish and local potato chips my wife and I really thought to be the best meal in the area. The fish very fresh, the batter tasty and battered to perfection even the chips had taste and not soggy just perfect. Thankyou Bassletons a great meal. I have not had Fish and chips for over a year because the last fish supper put me off and was sick with stale fish, Bassletons Stokesley have give me back my favourite meal.

Visited for the first time at the weekend instead of my usual chip shop on the basis of reviews. I'm often disappointed when visiting new fish and chip shops but not this one, the food was lovely and I was pleasantly surprised at the price being lower than I expected. This place will now be on my list of good food places.

Wow what a chippy! Came here for the first time last week on a random Wednesday evening and we were really impressed. The little store was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday which made me think this place must be half decent and also the fact the lady serving seemed to know a number of customers by name also showed they have regulars/know the local people well. We ordered fish and chips, sausage, gravy, mushy peas, so tried a good part of the menu and honestly would say it was one of the best chippys I’ve had, I am quite fussy with a chippy! Fish was massive, fresh to order, perfectly cooked, great handmade fresh chips, sausage was brill and the gravy was fantastic! Super realistic prices as well, very fair for the portion sized/good quality fish you get. If I was more local to the area I would 100% be returning on a more frequent basis. Thank you for a great dinner.
